Becky (2020) is an action drama movie directed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion. It deals with a girl who goes on a getaway with her father only to meet a group of convicts at their cabin. Below is my short Becky (2020) movie review

Becky (2020) movie poster

Not getting along well with her father a young girl (Becky) goes on a getaway and finds herself fighting for survival. She goes against a group of Neo-Nazis that are hell bent on fighting a box in their cabin. In the beginning Becky doesn’t come off as likable. She is sassy and not very responsive to her father’s attempts to bond. We can still see that she is open to strengthening the relationship, just not the way her dad is approaching it.

After we are introduced to Kevin James and his group (including the giant Robert Maillet), the movie plays like a standard home invasion. There is not much violence up to this point as the group tries to get answers from Beck’s father. Becky meanwhile is nearby but not seen by the felons. When they don’t get answers they need, the group finds out Becky might be the key to their mystery. Then everything goes south as they are picked off one by one in brutal ways.

Becky draws them away and sets traps. Her small stature is not an issue as she finds ways to pick off the felons and ensure her family’s safety. This is where Lulu Wilson shines as she loses her sh*t in killing the felons who are five times her size. All the pent up anger that she had towards her father and the life overall comes out. The nice girl turns mean as she realizes she is the answer to all the questions the felons are after. It becomes fun to watch her find ways to take down hardened criminals.

This movie is often compared to “Home Alone” movie due to a kid making traps to take out criminals. However, even though “Home Alone” had fun traps (albeit brutal if you think about it), this movie has brutal traps that are meant to kill and inflict huge amounts of pain. There is plenty of blood and gore (ruler death, eye gore, lawnmower death, and even animal death). Most of it is quite gory and shown in a lot of detail.

With all of that said, the movie is a fun watch. There is a good amount of gore, decent villains, good story, and overall serviceable dialogue. The movie goes by pretty fast. The characters were OK with none of them having any deep backstories. This is OK as this is a movie that has a little girl killing big felons in brutal ways. We are not concerned with their backstories as the violence becomes the subject of the entire movie. Highly recommended for violent movie fans!
