Freaky (2020) is a horror movie directed by Christopher Landon. The movie revolves around a shy girl who switches bodies with a serial killer and has to find a way to switch back. It stars Vince Vaughn as the Butcher and Kathryn Newton as Millie. Below is my Freaky (2020) movie review

In the beginning of the movie Millie is shown as shy, timid and bullied. She goes about her business when she is stabbed by a man known as Blissfield Butcher. She wakes up in his body and starts to figure out what is going on as her confidence skyrockets. This is where we start to get some pretty gory kills that are bloody and overall pretty original. It goes on for a while as Millie tries to figure out what to do with her friends.

One of the things that stood out is that Butcher’s Millie is confident and a little too girly while actual Millie is timid and shy and not very talkative. She keeps to herself and stays out of trouble. They are two different people. Also the family aspects were pretty boring. While in some way important, it also was not fun to watch compared to the rest of the movie. Another thing that is also weird and might take some people out is that Millie is shown as bullied and undesirable yet she is a very attractive girl. She is also not overweight or in any way an outcast that is evident and an obvious point of ridicule.
As many people have pointed out, the star of this movie is Vince Vaughn. He is big and intimidating but once he switches bodies with Millie, he becomes very entertaining. He is girly, talks a lot, and just reacts to everything scared like a little puppy. His overall mannerism and reactions are on point as he looks just like any other scared girl. There are also similarities to other movies such as “Friday the 13th”, “Freaky Friday” and even “Hot Chick”. This movie combines a lot of the aspects of those movies but ups it with graphic violence.
Overall the movie is a ton of fun to watch. From Voughn’s performance to the overall story, the movie is never dull. It has a bunch of pretty creative kills. The whole cast looks like they are having fun and the movie doesn’t drag. Besides some small flaws and the ending that goes on a bit longer than it should, the movie is solid. These flaws are not enough to ruin the movie, which is already about 100 min long with ending credits.
