Project Wolf Hunting (2022) is a crime/action movie directed by Hongsun Kim. It deals with prisoners moving from the Philippines to South Korea only to have a riot break out. Below is my Project Wolf Hunting (2022) movie review
One of the most obvious things about this movie is the amount of violence depicted from start to end. In fact, according to the director, 2.5 tons of fake blood has been used during the filming of the movie. This is accompanied by 57 deaths. In fact one of the first scenes in the movie shows a man blowing up a bomb in a crowded area. From that point on there are some scenes of police abusing their power to show they hate the prisoners that will revolt later on.
Once we are on the ship, all hell breaks loose. The prisoners start to kill all of the people they encounter. These deaths are extremely brutal with a lot of blood spewing out. In fact most kills completely cover the prisoners in blood. Most people would see it as too much but it is a perfect movie for gorehounds. Everything from stabbings, to gun shots, to skull crushings is present in the movie. This is on top of cushings, dismemberment, and even peeing on corpses.
Nobody is safe in the movie. If you grow attached to “nice” characters, they probably will die. If you think important characters are safe, you are wrong. At about half way through the movie, there was hardly anybody that was “safe”. Most people were killed off when the director introduced the secret weapon. Not spoiling it but this secret weapon is more brutal than all the other characters combined. This is nothing surprising and has been shown in movies plenty of times before. Again, it is the brutality that is interesting and fun to watch for movie goers whole like blood and gore.
These characters are not really interesting at all. Obviously most are bad but even the police are not distinguishable from each other. Most are rude or abusive to the prisoners and are just there to be killed later on. Our focus is really on how they will be killed rather than how they will get out in one piece. Whether that is good or bad will probably be determined by the viewer. However the movie never said it will focus on the narrative of the good characters.
Anyway, this movie is BRUTAL AND EXTREMELY BLOODY. Nobody is safe and it never seems to have a dull moment. The setting is good, the characters are passable, and the kills are not creative but they are brutal,as mentioned.
