The Resort (2021) is a vacation horror movie directed by Taylor Chien. It stars a bunch of empty headed characters who go to a resort that is haunted by the infamous “Half-faced Girl”. Below is my The Resort (2021) movie review

The beginning of the movie up to a halfway point is not bad. The characters are not great but they are having fun exploring new locations and swimming around. They are accompanied by techno (??) song and the scenery overall is not bad. However, after the characters get to the hotel, everything becomes slow and tedious. Unless you consider walking around abandoned resort fun, this movie has nothing else to offer.

The characters are so boring and one-sided, a Tik Tok star would have more brain cells and a more developed personality than them. The movie could be called “Attractive people: the movie”. These people are obviously cast because they are either friends with the director/producer or because they are good looking. There is nothing else to them. Their acting is all over the place, but the muscular guy is absolutely terrible and he has 5 lines in the entire movie.

The Resort (2021) movie. These are our characters. Trust me, they are interesting.

As mentioned, there is not much going on in the entire movie. Bunch of folks go to an abandoned resort and they experience a few “spooky” things and end up dying. It seems like the director ran out of money or just didn’t want to put in anymore into the movie knowing it will be a flop. That is how the ending feels like. It is not developed, interesting, or even worth watching. It is complete trash. The director found a generic spooky movie ending and said “we can do that”. He was not trying to be original or interesting. He just wanted some way to end the nothingness that came before it.

This is not even a background movie. It does not have any decent scares, it doesn’t offer much in terms of scenery (few T&A and resort shots don’t count), and it is not memorable in the slightest. There are movies out there shot on iPhone that seem to have more effort put into it. Student films also have more creativity than this generic sh*t. It is short and still not worth being on anybody’s watch list.

This movie is BAD. I mean really freaking bad. From boring characters to boring storyline, it does not come off as a movie that had any effort put into it. If you take a random vacation video, take out all the drinking, all the laughs, and leave one waterfall shot in it, you will get better entertainment than this. However, if you like your movie with very little gore and just random people making boring conversations with no character development, this movie might be a perfect hit for you.

Thanks for reading my The Resort (2021) movie review
