We Summon the Darkness is a 2019 American horror movie directed by Marc Meyers and written by Alan Trezza. It stars Alexandra Daddario (Alexis), Keean Johnson (mark), Maddie Hasson (Val), Amy Forsyth (Beverly), Logan Miller (Kovacs), Austin Swift (Ivan), and Johnny Knoxville (pastor John Henry Butler). It deals with three girls who go to a concert and invite some people to an after concert party only for everything to go wrong when they get there. Below is my short We Summon the Darkness (2019) movie review

When we are introduced to the three girls, they are very cheerful, making fun of each other and just having fun going on a trip together. You don’t get a feeling that they will be involved in anything as serious as satanic cults. The acting was solid but how bad can you mess it up if half of your time is spent laughing while the other half is spent looking hot? You can say anything if you are as hot as Alexandra Daddario and men will drool over you. The dialogue overall is not great and ranges from talking about music, how makeup is used to attract males, as well as stopping to go to the bathroom.

Once the carnage started, there was a good amount of violence and gore shown on screen. Everybody was going against each other and it was overall pretty fun to see them fight each other. This is a type of a movie that is really predictable. If you found the small twist at the end surprising, chances are that you don’t watch many movies. One thing that struck me as cool is that everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves, especially Daddario. However I couldn’t take her too seriously when she was joking, yelling as well as trying to be menacing all within the same scene. Her leader attitude just didn’t come off as convincing.

Most of the movie takes place in one house. It’s pretty much a game of cat and mouse with these characters as they try to outsmart each other.

Overall the movie is mediocre but still fun. A good amount of blood, decent acting, and a storyline that was interesting but not in itself very original. The ending was average for this type of a flick. However I think they were not aiming for a standout movie here. They just had an idea for a story that was fun and had a lot of blood. It’s one of the reasons why some people were introduced just to be killed. The movie is pretty short so I would say sit back and enjoy it for what it is.
